The crucial definition, from the existential point of view of what is poverty, it is denied freedom. When someone lives in poverty they are denied in developing they own natural talent in order to improve their standard of living. I feel that is the most valid definition that is used a lot by economist who specialized in this field: you have the capacity, you were born with capacity to better yourself, but the opportunities are very limited and as they are limited you cannot develop your skill and this will permanently deny you of freedom.
In august 2005, I went to a pub in Arauco with a colleague. It was a Friday night, we stayed until 3 o’clock, we drank some drinks, after that we decided to go walking to our respective houses, when suddenly we were attacked by a gang of young people.
Once we had walked two blocks, I started to hear noises behind me, and then while we were walking I turned back and I saw a gang of young people who were in the corner. As soon as I saw them, they began to follow us, then I started to shout "run, run" just as I run with all my force. Unfortunately after one block they caught me and started hitting me on the floor. While my colleague continued running without being caught.
It’s was about 2 minutes where they beat me kicked in the head, back, leg. They stole me my wallet, money, my cell phone and my watch. These 2 minutes it has been one of the worst episodes in my life. Just when the gang went, Police arrived. It seems they knew Police came. At that time, I felt really bad, and the only thing I asked was that I leave going to my house. Police allowed me to go to my house on the condition the following day to leave a record. Finally I came to my house and my colleague was waiting for me.
At last I went to the toilet; I think I was more than one hour putting me water in my head. My colleague said me he called to the Police. In my opinion, as log as he have gone to save me, we would have killed. The next day I went to the hospital I made a scanner and I took some X-rays, happily I did not have anything.
At the moment we are having a bad critical situation with respect to the price of food, gasoline, house hold expenses, especially with the electricity and gas. Last week, there were several strikes one of them was related to public education where teachers, secondary students and university students were involved. Besides there was a general strike of trucks drivers of all Chile, They decided to stop the transport of any goods, including petrol. On the once hang the situation created problems with trade, internal transport, export shipment, on the other hang, the situation of the students created conflict with the government and de education system. This social discontent is due to the high inflation while the pay of the worker remains the same. The government has enough money to solve that situation, but they are not taking the correct decisions. In my opinion we will continue having a rise inflation and the final situation for the coming years will be worse. Source: FRM
Let me introduce my self, I’m Fcoar, I’m from Concepción VIII región, Chile.
I’ve created this blog, with the objective of improving my English.
I’m thinking what the best way to write in English is creating this blog, I made a personal compromise that all that I will write here must be written in English. Of Course how I don’t know write very well and my English is not enough good for expressing some ideas, the most probable it's that in some paragraphs I comet some spellings lacks and mistakes. In this Blog, I’ll have the possibility to write about any matter, not caring my ignorance of some topics.
When I was in my schools, I had some English teachers who they didn’t teach and the most important thing is that they didn’t know the English language. Personally I was not motivated to learn, and I never did the homework, I always had problems with my English teachers. In my course I had classmates who they went to English courses in different institutes so they didn’t have any problems with them exams. When I finished my schools I didn’t know well the English language.
Personally the situation that I lived in my school it’s happening in different public school. When I was in the university, I decided to study very hard. The last 6 years I have invested a lot of money and time on learning English. I have had different English teachers mostly women blondes, browns, highs, smalls, fats, nice, boring etc., all they have different levels and abilities. I think that the important of English teachers is they have the possibility to live an experience abroad and they motivate and be able to improve the language of the people who really have difficulty to learn. I think it is very easy to teach a student who has language skills, not for which it does not.
In winter of 2006, I was working in Arauco and After my work I travelled to concepcion by company bus, but a very long rain and strong wind produced a landslides in the middle of the route and It blocked the route. It was impossible going to concepcion from arauco by bus . Authorities took long time to solution of the situation and after 2 months, they decided to repair the route. Between this time, I moved to concepción by an alternative route. I took 2 hours and 30 minutes to arrive. In spite of this situation I continued going to my English class. The government has left aside to the arauco region, in Arauco zone there are a lot poverty and unemployment. the salary of the workers are really bad. I think that Arauco region has serious social problems. Now Mop is thinking to built a new route (160)
Last Sunday I finished the wind energy on-line course offered by Ciemat . It was two hard months where I had to study and I had to make some homeworks. I had to send my homeworks to my teachers through internet. The quality of contents were very interesting. Every day I entered to virtual platform and I read the different contents. I am very grateful to have realized this course.
