1. Factories, power stations and cars pollute the air; causing acid rain resulting trees are damaged. 2. Industrial waste and sewage is dumped in the sea resulting wildlife is killed 3. Gases from cars and power stations causes “greenhouse effect” make the Earth becomes warmer then there are the climate changes and sea level rises 4. Trees are cut down make species become extinct, increasing “greenhouse effect”. 5. Nuclear accidents make radioactive material escapes into the atmosphere causing cancers 6. Chemicals destroy the ozone layer makes sun causes skin cancer, damages crops 7. Over use of farmland causes desert spreads and farmland is lost
Environmental action: 1. Save electricity; don’t waste it . 2. Recycle glass and paper; don’t throw it away
Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s near- surface air and oceans. Increasing global temperature will cause sea level rise, and is expected to increase the intensity of extreme weather events and to change the amount and pattern of precipitacion. Other effects of global warming include changes in agricultural yields, glacier retreat, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vector.
The Earth’s climate changes in response to external forcing, including variations in its orbit around the Sun, volcanic eruptions, and atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. The detailed causes of the recent warming remain an active field of research. But the scientific consensus is that the increase in atmosphere greenhouse gases due to human activity caused most of the warming observed since the start of the industrial era. This attribution is clarets for the most recent 50 year, for which the most detailed data are available. Some other hypothesis departing from the consensus view have been suggested to explain the temperature increase. One such hypothesis proposes that warming may be the result of variations in solar activity.
Climate change is a global problem, and yet each one of us has the power to make a difference. Even small changes in our daily behaviour can help prevent greenhouse gas emissions without affecting our quality of life. In fact, they can help save us money.Trying to read some advice such you can save energy an money in: European Union Web site about global warming
The Green house Effect
The Earth receives its life sustaining warmth from the Sun. On its way the Earth’s surface most of the heat energy passes through the Earth’s atmosphere, while a smaller proportion is reflected back into space.
The energy warms the Earth’s surface and as the temperature increases, the Earth radiates heat energy (infrared energy) back into the atmosphere. As this energy has a different wavelength to that coming from the sum, some is absorbed by gases in the atmosphere.
There are four main naturally occurring gases that are responsible for the green house effect, water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. One these gases absorb energy, the gas particles begin to vibrate and they radiate energy in all directions, including approximately 30% of it back towards the earth.
